I hit most of the fairways and my misses were minor and playable. I figured it was at least a chance to practice with little pressure so I headed out. I had no rangefinder, a terrible putter, and totally mismatched clubs which were all at least thirty years old. The course was wide open as only a handful of patrons were playing.

I went to the car, changed my shoes, swung the driver a few times and teed off. The cost to tee off before 2:00 was $40 with cart (way too high for this tract) and there was no driving range to adjust to the oddly mismatched clubs. but in this set, the wedge was longer than the 4-iron! But, what the hack, I wanted to play a round so I looked the other way. yes, I know all irons come in declining lengths. every iron was a different brand, different shafts and different lengths. I chose a set that appeared to still have readable logos mixed a putter and driver from different sets. Most of the clubs were probably older than me (and I was born during the Korean War!). nothing I would ever have purchased even for a beginner. these guys opened a closet and there were twenty or so of the sorriest looking golf clubs I had ever seen. most place have deals with Callaway, Cobra, Taylornade, Nike. I knew things were not top of the line when I inquired about 'what brand of rental clubs' they had. It has a nice clubhouse and looks nice from the road. I was looking for something to do after my Significant Other chose to return home a day early, so I stumbled across this little course just a couple of blocks from my condo along Thomas Avenue.
